Temporary Workspace Agreement — Return to 1624 Location The Board considered entering into a contractual agreement with Satellite Shelters Incorporated to provide two temporary workspace facilities at the Town's property at 1624, allowing staff to return to the town's own site while a new permanent building is planned and constructed.

  • Staff explained that the Town had vacated its former building at 1624 due to an emergency structural situation and has since been operating out of a local church. This agreement would allow the Town to return to its own property using modular temporary structures.
  • The cost of the new agreement will be somewhat higher than what the Town is currently paying, but operations would move back to town-owned property.
  • A Commissioner asked whether the public would have input into the design of the new permanent building. Staff confirmed that public involvement is planned, including stakeholder meetings where residents can share ideas — such as walking trail connections, a history room celebrating the town's mill heritage, and other community features.
  • The architectural firm recently awarded the design contract is expected to hold its first kickoff meeting with department heads shortly, with broader public engagement to follow and be publicly advertised.
  • The Board voted to approve the contract with Satellite Shelters Incorporated. Motion was made by Commissioner Doug Law and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem. The vote carried unanimously.
