FY 2026–2027 Budget Approval The Board voted to approve the town’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

• The budget had received positive feedback from the Local Government Commission (LGC).

Police Body Camera Debt Payoff The Board authorized an early payoff of the remaining debt on police body cameras.

• The payment, approximately $39,000, was made to save on interest costs and improve the town’s financial standing.

Budget Amendments 2526.23 and 2526.24 The Board approved two budget amendments to reconcile end-of-fiscal-year accounting.

• The amendments covered expenditures for the new Town Hall design, payoff of police vehicles, and travel for city vision training.

Ranlo Police Foundation The Board discussed a proposal to establish a Ranlo Police Foundation to support the Police Department.

• The Board decided the existing Public Safety Partnership Committee will continue as is for now while the group explores establishing the foundation independently.
• A $200 allocation was approved for the committee to cover stationery and office supplies.

Property Condemnation – Waterline Easement The Board approved a resolution to condemn a parcel of land needed for a waterline project easement.

• The action followed multiple failed attempts to reach the property owner.

Annual Audit Contract The Board approved entering into an annual audit contract with Eddie Carrick.

Public Comment – Utility Billing System Residents raised concerns about the new website billing system, which charges fees for online payments.

• The Town Manager acknowledged the difficulty of the transition, noting that in-office bank drafting is currently the only fee-free payment option.
• Staff are working to improve the online payment system.

Public Comment – Mitchum Road Traffic Safety Residents of Mitchum Road raised concerns about speeding and safety risks to children and property following recent development.

• The Board noted that Mitchum Road is a state-maintained road and committed to coordinating with NCDOT on traffic calming measures.

“Roll Back Jack” Trash Can Service Proposal Pastor Dennis Smith presented a business concept, “Roll Back Jack,” offering trash can moving and cleaning services.

• The Board tabled the proposal for further discussion and legal review.

Ranlo Experience Committee Update The Committee reported on recent and upcoming events.

• The May “Miltown Night” event was reported as a success.
• Upcoming events include a Juneteenth celebration on June 19th and a car show and fireworks display on July 17th.

Ranlo Resource Network Update The Network reminded the community of its free summer lunch program for children.

• The program runs Monday through Thursday, 12:00–1:00 PM, at the ball fields.

South Ranlo Waterline Project Staff provided an update on town infrastructure projects.

• Construction on the South Ranlo waterline project began June 8, 2026.
• The Town Manager provided updates on the ongoing transition of the metering system.
• Stage 2 drought water restrictions remain in place.
